World Championship of Online Poker
This is a major event that accepts players from around the world and is held online. Sponsored by PokerStars, WCOOP was founded in 2002 and takes place in September. Participants play different poker versions such as RAZZ, Seven-card stud, No Limit and Pot Limit Texas Hold’em, 2-7 Single Draw, and 2-7 Triple Draw. Players from different countries have won the championship, including Norway, the U.S., Sweden, Denmark, France, Canada, Hungary, and Germany. A total of 219 tournaments took place in 2019, offering participants the chance to play poker online and compete in games such as 2-7 Triple Draw, Hold’em, and HORSE.
World Series of Poker
This is one of the most prestigious events that takes place in Las Vegas each year since 1970. Founded by Lester Ben Binion, the event is sponsored by casino and hotel entertainment company Caesars Entertainment and features most poker variations. There are different formats of the tournament such as the WSOP International Circuit, WSOP Europe Circuit, and WSOP Las Vegas. When registering, participants can use different payment methods such as cashier’s check, wire transfer, and credit card. The entry fee includes administrative costs, materials, and staffing.
Triton Super High Roller Series
Organized by Triton Poker, multiple tournaments take place around the world with different cash prizes and buy-ins. The series were first held in 2015 with 43 players and half a million buy-in. The big prize of $5 million was won by German professional poker player Rainer Kempe. Tournaments are held at various venues around the globe such as Baha Mar in Hong Kong, Aria Resort and Casino in Nevada, U.S., and The Star Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. Players from different countries compete in poker games, including the UK, the U.S, Germany, Belarus, Canada, and Spain.
Other major events are the World Poker Tour Championships and Big One for One Drop. The latter is a buy-in No Limit Texas Hold’em event which is held in June or July. Players compete for a pool prize of over $40 million, and the big prize is over $10 million.
